A PLANNING application to change a holiday let into a permanent dwelling just outside of Tavistock has been shelved pending a site visit.
The former agricultural milking parlour at High Wilminstone Farm had already been converted into a three bedroom holiday let.
But applicant Ms I Chambers had applied to West Devon Borough Council's planning committee to have a condition, attached to the previously approved planning permission for a holiday let, removed. Planning consent was originally granted in 2012.
The new application would allow permanent occupancy of the premises as a main place of residence.
The council's planning officers recommended approval of the application — but there were objections from Tavistock Town Council, which said that 'the original application for the holiday let conversion has not been used for this purpose. The condition should not be removed'.
Four objection letters had also been received by the borough, which stated the proposal was 'not appropriate in the area, because of highway safety issues, drainage issues and the building is not suitable for residential living'.
At last week's planning and licensing committee meeting held on Tuesday, November 5, it was agreed to defer a decision pending a site visit, which will be taking place this month.
