SOUTH West Lakes Trust and South West Water have revealed the winners of the 'Love your Lakes' photo competition.

The competition was held to encourage people of all ages to make the most of the photo opportunities at their lakes across Devon, Cornwall and West Somerset. It ran from June 11 to September 30, receiving more than 400 entries.

The four categories for photographers were — the beauty of water, people, activities and flora and fauna and photos had to have been taken at one of the South West Lakes Trust's lakes.

The competition was judged by Evelyn Stacey, chief executive of South West Lakes Trust, Monica Read, customer relations and business development director of South West Water and also a trustee of South West Lakes Trust and renowned professional news and sport photographer Richard Austin.

Cash prizes were donated by South West Water for the first prize winners.

First prize for the beauty of water category and the chosen overall winner was Dave Gordon, from Yelverton, with his photograph of Burrator, who was awarded £350.

The winners of the other three categories received £100, second prize winners received a £25 South West Lakes Trust voucher. Those who were highly commended received a 'Friends of the Trust' membership.

The winning entries will be on display in the Lakeside Visitor Centre at Roadford Lake from January 18 until the end of February. New ban-ners have also been installed in the visitor centre displaying some of the winning photo-graphs, which are hanging from the ceiling.
