Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3
Mary Tavy 4
St Breward 0
WITH only two more games after this one Mary Tavy will look back on their first season in division 3 and put it down to experience.
At times they looked a dominant force and would surely finish in the top three in the league, but on other occasions bad luck or fate saw games lost and points thrown away.
They can however take heart from the fact that apart from the opening game of the season against league leaders North Hill not one game was lost by more than a single goal.
This display against St Breward showed Tavy?s superiority as they outplayed their opponents for long periods of the game. The first 45 minutes saw little goalmouth action as Tavy battled against the wind but Andy Pedrick?s opener was well worth the wait.
With few goals to his name Pedrick is getting the reputation of only scoring spectaculars and this was no exception. He met the ball around the 18-yard area and thumped it into the net.
Mark Piper soon made it two, taking advantage of a keeping error and calmly slid the ball home. Dan Brockington, who up to this point had done everything but score, placed the ball in the net for Tavy?s third, and home celebrity Gareth Patton skulking at the far post tucked away their fourth.
James Coole earlier hit the woodwork after superb play from Philpott and Wiggy and what looked to be an obvious penalty was deemed to be conceded rather dubiously outside the area.
