SHE did plenty of pedalling, but Annie Jefferies didn't travel very far!

Annie, of Lamerton was in Tavistock's Bedford Square during the bank holiday weekend, clocking up the miles on a static cycle, sponsored by Dartmoor Cycles.

The charity effort was part of a major charity effort for the Emily Jordan Foundation, which helps young adults with learning difficulties.

Emily had just graduated with a first class honours law degree from Swansea University when she tragically drowned in a river accident in New Zealand, despite being a strong swimmer.

Now Annie, Emily's aunt and godmother, is training for a 1,000-mile cycle trip next April to boost the foundation's funds.

It will be no mean feat as Annie, 60, is recovering from knee surgery, following a skiing accident last January.

The Emily Jordan Foundation aims to provide work-based opportunities for individuals with a learning difficulty so that they can undertake meaningful work with carer relief.

Annie hopes to raise £50,000 towards the establishment of an industrial unit to train young people with learning difficulties in a range of employment skills.
