MARIE Curie Cancer Care is using pedal power to make a difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families and is calling for residents of West Devon and East Cornwall to take part in the Great 500 Cycle Challenge. This event will see an exclusive group of 500 UK cyclists setting off for Poland in September aiming to raise a whopping £1-million ? enough money to enable Marie Curie to provide more than 50,000 hours of nursing care. Former MP and celebrity Edwina Currie and her husband John Jones have already signed up for the challenge and want as many people as possible to join them in Poland. ?The five-day cycle challenge is open to everyone, whether you are a competitive racer, a ride-to-worker or a weekend family cyclist,? said Mrs Currie. ?Each rider will take one of the five routes through Poland, all arriving in Warsaw, the birthplace of Marie Curie in one spectacular calvacade.? All the routes will vary in distance and difficulty so there is something for everyone. All you have to do is raise £1,800 in sponsorship and have the desire to be part of Marie Curie Cancer Care?s history.
