LONG-STANDING peace activist Bruce Kent will visit Tavistock on Wednesday (April 3) to meet members of the public.
Mr Kent will be at Tavistock Peace Action Group's stall in Bedford Square, campaigning against government plans to replace Trident nuclear submarines.
Mr Kent was chair and general secretary of CND in the 1980s and has been chair of War on Want. He believes nuclear weapons are 'no answer to any threats we actually face' and that the estimated £100-billion involved is a 'squandering of public money' at a time of cuts in other areas of spending.
The stall runs from 11am to 1pm. He hopes to meet as many people as possible at this event, which is part of his national 'Time to Scrap Trident' tour.
