WHAT a shame to read of the chamber of trade's hectoring and criticising of the vicar in such an uncharitable manner, last week.
His admirable comments and firm stand over the meddling with the carol singing for Red Lion Yard are to be applauded. Such behaviour seems to occur whenever anyone in the local churches dares to offend by challenging the latest daft idea for Okehampton.
Whatever happened to public consultation? At a time when many have been angered by many ham-fisted attempts to improve Okehampton could we not pay a little more attention to the message of the Christ whom we worship at Christmas time — peace and goodwill to everyone.
