WIDELY regarded as some of the hottest property on the R 'n' B circuit, Parker's Alibi is set to wow the audience at The Wharf in Tavistock tomorrow (Friday).
Fronted by 23-year-old Ian Parker, guitarist and vocalist, the band has now included most major blues festivals in its increasing itinerary of gigs, plus the renowned Ronnie Scott's club.
They have also shared the stage with music legends such as Paul Jones, The Animals, Canned Heat, Peter Green, Walter Trout, Ian Hunter, Lesley West and Geno Washington.
After performing at the Hastings Blues Festival in 1999, US blues veteran Sherman Robertson told Parker: 'You got what it takes, and you'll get there — I only ever said that to one other white guy and that was Stevie Ray Vaughan.'
The Parker's Alibi live CD Exposed has been well received by loyal and enthusiastic followers. The band are now hoping to present their original material to selected record labels.
Parker's Alibi perform sympathetic yet inventive interpretations of soul material plus an expanding repertoire of their own, original material which reflects their blues roots.
Parker's Alibi are Ian Parker (lead guitarist/vocals), Morg Morgan, (piano/organ/backing vocals), Chris Lomas (bass guitar) and Tony Baylis (drums).
Tickets for tomorrow's 8pm performance are £5 in advance, £6 on the door.
