A MOTHER and daughter team from West Devon took the plunge recently and made a parachute jump to raise funds for the restoration of the historic Church House at South Tawton.

None of her friends and relatives really believed Nora Bertram would go through with the jump, and daughter Marcia had her doubts.

But when South Zeal resident Nora made the decision to do the daring jump, there was no keeping her feet on the ground.

The two women went to the Devon and Somerset Parachute School in Dunkeswell on last month, where they were taken through a brief course of instruction on what to do and what to expect by the qualified staff, who were to accompany them on the jump.

Nora said: ?I wasn?t frightened until I put my foot out of the plane.

?There was no turning back then so I decided to enjoy it: 5,000 feet free fall and 5,000 feet with the parachute open.

?It was an amazing experience,? added Nora.

Nora said she enjoyed sharing the experience with her daughter and was delighted to have raised more than £1,000 to assist with the restoration of Church House, South Tawton.

Nora said she was glad she had done the parachute jump, although she wouldn?t be looking to repeat the adventure.

However, her daughter who lives in Okehampton had expressed an interest in doing another jump.

If anyone would like to take the plunge and add to the sum, Nora will be only to pleased to hear from them on 01837 840671.
