TWO runners from West Devon are preparing for Paris as they get ready to raise lots of money for a charity which helps disabled youngsters to enjoy sport. Judith Lew from Highampton and Nikki Siddall from Sheepwash are taking part in the Paris Marathon on Sunday, April 9. Last year the friends took part in the London Marathon to raise money for CLIC, achieving the excellent sum of more than £1,700. This year they are running in aid of Get Kids Going, a charity which supplies disabled children with specialist wheelchairs and equipment to enable them to take part in sporting activities. This will be the second time Judith has run the Paris Marathon, having previously competed three years ago. Judith is a marathon veteran ? this will be the fourth she has undertaken in the last five years, while Nikki is facing up to the 26-mile distance for the second time. Judith said: ?Our training is going very well. We did the Bideford half-marathon last week, and it was great fun. ?We are also running during the week and at weekends and we did 18 miles on the Granite Way on Sunday.? Judith said all the proceeds from the event were going direct to Get Kids Going, Judith and Nikki will be at Hatherleigh Market for the next few Tuesdays with sponsorship forms, which are also available along with collection tins at the village shops in Highampton and Sheepwash. Alternatively, if you would like to make a donation, you can contact Judith on 01409 231323 or Nikki on 01409 231509.
