Jewson South Western League
Bodmin 1
Tavistock 2
THIS final league game for the Lambs took place at Liskeard's ground due to engineering work at Priory Park.
Both keepers were in early action. Dean Tongue turned inside his marker after a free kick to send in a fierce shot for Charles West to push onto the crossbar for a corner and from it Tony Cusack shot straight at the keeper. It was then Lambs keeper Andy Meeds' turn as Bodmin broke quickly for Brett Elliott to send in a first-time shot that was palmed away for a corner.
The Lambs took the lead on 15 minutes with a well executed goal. John Nichols stole the ball just inside the Bodmin half to go down the wing and cross low for Pitts to lay it back for Cusack to smash home from just inside the area.
The Lambs continued to dominate with Pitts seeing West tip over a close-range effort but they were fortunate to go in at half-time one up when the woodwork came to their rescue three minutes prior to the interval.
The Lambs had chances to put the game beyond the reach of Bodmin but Tongue, Cusack and Pitts were guilty of missing them. John May shot wide for the 'home' side on the hour before Chris Gott came on for Cusack followed by Hodge and Daymond for Pitts and Mark Wall.
Within seconds two of them were in action as Tongue put Daymond away. His low pass found Hodge in the area only to cut his shot across the goal. It was to prove a costly miss as Bodmin were back on level terms inside a minute. It looked very much like the whole of the forward line were offside but play continued for May to shoot low past Meeds.
But their celebrations were short-lived and the Lambs took the lead again within a minute when from a Lee Beer free kick Darren Babb headed back across goal for sub Gott to convert an overhead kick via an upright.
The right result but it could have been a lot more comfortable had the Lambs taken more of their chances . It left them in a final position of ninth with 50 points.
