Under 14?s DJM Raleigh League
Railway Beacon 6
Tavistock Thistles U14s 3
In torrential rain, Thistles faced the team at the top of their league and resisted the attempts at a rout that were thrown at them. Beacon scored two goals quite quickly, but was held for a considerable time by the defence enabling the forwards Leeson and Lake to try to score at their end of the field. An own goal from Beacon gave fresh heart to Thistles.
After half time, Beacon continued to put the pressure on and scored three more goals. Substitutions by Burnett and Pearce gave some fresh impetus that produced two Thistles goals in the dying minutes; one by Leeson and one from Hutchins.
Man of the match: Shaun Lish. Manager?s man of the match: Alex Lowe.

THISTLES bounced back from two recent defeats with a resounding victory. The game started as a midfield tussle but Thistles settled and it was not long before they broke the deadlock.
Tremblett forced the ball home after good approach play by Johnson.
Neat play soon brought the second goal when Tremblett knocked a superb pass out to the ring wing for Higson who delivered a first-time cross that was converted by Jackman at the second attempt.
Woodford came out well at the start of the second half but a good ball through the middle saw Heard race clear and finish excellently to put Thistles 3-0 up.
With Wash and McCormick working hard in midfield and Evans and Newcombe keeping things tight at the back Thistles pushed on and Wash scored his first with a neat finish.
Higson added a fifth with a sublime chip over the keeper to the far post from a tight angle.
With Johnson, Higson and Wash combining well down the right it was no surprise when the latter claimed his second with a strong run and shot after receiving the ball from a quick Higson throw-in.
Price, deputising in goal, had a solid game.
Higson?s persistence won Thistles the ball and set up Wash who finished superbly with a tremendous shot from outside the box.
Second half substitutions for Thistles saw Edwards replace Burd who had a game despite his recent illness. Jones made his debut as a replacement for the excellent Johnson.
