Plymouth and West Devon senior
Cafe Roma 1
Ordulph Arms 3
ORDULPH returned after a long break and won this hard fought battle to maintain their unbeaten run. They were without first team players Dudley, John, Rob Maloney and Paul Hoskin, but were however boosted by the return of James Phillpotts and James Coole.
The game was scrappy and both teams knew that this match was going to be won by out fighting their oppenents rather than playing attractive football.
Ordulph went close through Stephens early on and James Aggis nearly headed the visitors in front. However, Aggis did not have to wait long to open the scoring with a right foot strike.
Paul Gliddon almost added a second before half time after a brilliant run but his effort just missed the post.
Seb Krotke came on for Ordulph after the break and his arrival was an instant success, playing Stephens in who coolly fired a left foot strike past the keeper. Cafe Roma pulled a goal back within a few minutes with a neat volley on the turn.
Ordulph had to defend doggedly at times and with a makeshift back four of Dave Downham, Gaden, Payne and regular goalkeeper Sean Maloney playing at centre back they held firm. Phillpotts came close with a free kick from distance and Krotke should have killed the game off when in on goal.
In the dying seconds however the Ordulph got the decisive third. Phillpotts found Krotke who burst through the defence and unselfishly tied up Stephens who blasted in from close range.
