THIS weekend will see a variety of events at Roadford Lake, near Okehampton, including the sixth Garden Opera on Saturday June 17. With The Garden Opera Company returning for a performance of Mozart?s ?Così fan tutte?, the Opera promises to entertain, amuse and enchant, with a combination of talented young professionals, singers and chamber musicians to capture the essence of this delightful opera. The Guardian reported last year that: ?...so high is the overall standard of musicianship ? the six-piece band led by Peter Bridges is formidable...the piece?s essential humanity registers as clearly as the jokes?. The Opera will be held on the amphitheatre overlooking Roadford Lake providing a fantastic venue for this popular Opera. An alternative venue has been organised if the weather is wet. Tickets are £19.50 per person available on 01566 771930 or from the Restaurant at Raodford. Visitors are most welcome to bring picnics or to enjoy the Lakeside Opera buffet. Following the opera, on Sunday June 18 there will be a local food and craft fair, offering a wide selection of locally produced goods. During the whole weekend the Angling and Watersports Centre will be busy with Windsurfing Demonstrations organised by Reactive Watersports. For further details call the Centre on 01409 211507.
