GARDENERS in Peter Tavy are keeping their fingers crossed for dry weather on Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, when the parish will be holding its first 'Open Gardens' event.
The gardens will be open from 11am to 5pm each day. Weekend entry passes cost £4.50 per adult, with accompanied under 16s free, and will be on sale on both days from the village hall.
On the Saturday, between 2pm and 4pm, the Methodist Church will hold its annual cream teas and plant sale, and on the Sunday, from 2.30pm, visitors can enjoy a walk around the pond garden and cream teas at Edgecombe in the nearby hamlet of Cudlipptown.
The weekend will be raising funds for the village hall, Methodist church and St Peter's Church.
