A GROUP concerned with the long-term prosperity of Tavistock is holding an open forum in the town council chamber in Drake Road on October 14.
TAVi (The Tavistock and Village Initiative) consists of individuals, community groups, local councils and organisations who were brought together as part of the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative.
The organisation published its action plan 'Markets, Moors and Meadows' four years ago and over the past six months has been reviewing that plan with a view to engaging the community.
TAVi's aim is to work with local and regional bodies to build on the area's strengths and tackle its weaknesses, exploit opportunities and mitigate threats.
The forum will start at 2pm and anyone is welcome to attend. This will be followed up with further open sessions on the second Tuesday of each month and an evening consultation event in early October.
During the past year TAVi has awarded grants to projects such as Lamerton Sports and Community Centre, the Higher Moorland Community Association in Princetown and youth projects in Tavistock and Bere Alston.
Anyone interested in becoming a member of the forum should contact the TAVi office at 20 Plymouth Road, Tavistock or email: [email protected]">[email protected]
