PEOPLE in West Devon have been invited to attend an open day at the maternity unit in Derriford Hospital on Saturday, March 28.
Anyone who would like to find out more about the care available to mothers, families and newborns is invited to attend.
It runs from 10am to 4pm and will be formally opened by Deputy Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Cllr Mary Aspinall.
Topics include care in pregnancy and the screening scans available; giving birth; support given to new babies and mothers after birth; breastfeeding; care for premature babies; help to give up smoking; midwives and their professional training.
There will also be tours of the unit at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. As the maternity unit is still a working department, a maximum of 20 people can go on each tour so book at the welcome desk on attendance.
Activities such as face painting and the toy library will be available for younger children who are accompanied by an adult.
