PEOPLE young and old are being invited to find out about all things fungi, with a Fungi Foray walk in the arboretum at Burrator Reservoir this weekend.

South West Lakes Trust is running the walk, led by Jacky Pearce, fungi enthusiast and SWLT volunteer on Sunday, October 21 from 11am to 1pm.

The informative and engaging walk will provide participants with the opportunity to learn more about wild mushrooms, meet other like-minded people and give exercise with a focus.

Attendees can learn to identify species previously recorded within the arboretum such as earth ball, lemon disco and plums and custard along with slime moulds, including diachea leucopodia.

Jacky Pearce said: 'The arboretum visitors will learn how to identify fungi for themselves and gain a little confidence in their own ability to do so.

'I'll be showing some easy to identify edibles as well as some to avoid and how some are very hard to distinguish from each other.

'It's going to be great fun with a great bunch of people.'

The walk is £3 per person and free for under 16s. Sturdy footwear is advised.

Bookings can be made by calling 01566 771930.
