IN the most recent of the series of Oracle lectures held at Mount House School, pupils and parents were treated to a talk and slide show about life on safari in the Tanzanian bush.

Gary Strand, a parent at Mount House, runs a company which operates bespoke safaris in some of the world's richest and wildest areas for seeing wildlife.

Having trained as a photographer he was able to show some dramatic images of the drama and beauty which are part of his everyday working life, while regaling the children and parents with a fascinating insight into a different world.

Oracle lectures are meant to inspire the children and broaden their perception of possibilities open to them as they grow up.

Headmaster Jim Massey said: 'Gary Strand had the audience spellbound from start to finish. It was plain to see that he was just the right person to inspire the children. He was bombarded with questions for nearly half an hour after the end of the talk.'
