A FORMER high flyer with the Tavistock ATC has joined the Red Arrows.

Matt Jarvis, who showed great potential as a Tavistock Squadron Air Training Corp cadet, is ?Red 2? for the 2004 season.

Educated at Callington College, Matt joined the cadets as soon as he was old enough and his commanding officer John Olver remembers his determination to be a pilot.

?Matt was an excellent cadet and won several of the squadron awards,? he said.

?He was a member of our successful drill team and a cadet NCO. He always showed then his potential to be a pilot and we congratulate him on his achievement.?

Matt was awarded a sixth form scholarship and an RAF Flying scholarship enabling him to gain his Private Pilot?s Licence at the age of 17.

He joined the RAF in 1992 and after flying training was posted to Germany to fly the Harrier GR7.

Since then he has flown all over the world ? on training exercises and on operational missions.
