AT last week’s meeting of the OkeRail Forum, members voted to re-adopt Cllr Rev Mike Davies as the chairman with Cllr Dr Michael Ireland continuing to be the vice-chairman of the forum.
The purpose of the forum is to lead and manage all steps necessary to re-establish a daily rail service between Okehampton to Exeter and in the future look towards re-establishing a rail service through to Tavistock and then onto Plymouth.
The forum has representation from many local councils, rail groups, and community groups covering Okehampton, Hatherleigh, Tavistock, Launceston, and Bude.
At the meeting it was announced that the popular summer Sunday trains running from Exeter to Okehampton will start on May 19 and run each Sunday until September 8.
