Sidmouth 0 Okehampton 25 SIDMOUTH brought two strong teams to Oaklands and played some good rugby. But Okehampton were more than a match and played as a team with Josh Bickley scoring two of his best tries so far. One try came from Giles Heard who had another fine game. Ike Francis is unstoppable when he sniffs the line ? he added a fourth and Will Cooper scored the last. Captain Alfie Hawker lead from the front. Okehampton 30 Sidmouth 20 OKEHAMPTON scored first through Billy Searle, but Sidmouth came back with four well worked tries from their far bigger players. Okehampton knuckled down to some hard tackling led by Ryan Lee, the smallest lad on the pitch. Tries came from Giles Heard, who grabbed two, one more from Billy Searle and two late ones from Josh Punchard and Ike Francis. Sidmouth U14s 19 Okehampton U14s 23 WING Carl Goodall scored all four tries and would have scored a fifth had he not put a foot over the dead ball line. Okehampton forwards took the game to Sidmouth with Rob Long, Stuart Bennie, Luke Crocker and Sam Bullingham all gaining good ground for scrum-half Will Heard to move the ball to Tom Browne for centres Tom McGratton and Carl Poynton to attack and pull in the defence. Full-back Rory Honeychurch also came into the line well, which put Goodall into space and able to use his speed to score four excellent team tries. Wing forwards Richard Friend and Jake Chisholm forced Sidmouth into making mistakes when they did have the ball. Friend nearly scored from an interception. Long also crashed over twice but the referee was unsighted. Poynton kicked a penalty. Okehampton U13s..................12 Sidmouth U13s..........................0 AFTER last week?s disappointment, this was a good bounce back for Okehampton. Early exchanges were fairly even, though some indiscipline at the rucks by the home side allowed Sidmouth to pressurise the Okehampton line. The defence held strong, and with Andy North kicking well out of hand, Okehampton began to dominate play. Merrick Kirby carried for some good yardage, as did Will Hawkin and Tom Dean. The first score came from Darcy Heard who broke down the blind side, stepped inside a couple of tacklers before diving over the line for an unconverted try. Play continued in the Sidmouth half, and from a scrum on their own line the Sidmouth fly-half dropped the ball which was pounced on by Luke Miller playing his first game on the flank, North added the conversion, making the game 12-0 at the break. The second half was a continuation of the first with the home side dominating much of the play. Brad Hudson had a good game when he came on at replacement hooker, however more indiscipline meant the Okes put pressure on themselves at crucial times in the match, denying them a chance to add to the score. This week: home to Crediton at North Tawton. Okehampton U11s....................7 Sidmouth U11s........................21 A STRONG and well organised Sidmouth pack had the upper hand thoughout the first half and Okehampton were under a lot of pressure but excellent tackling in defence kept the visitors down to one score. The second half was a much closer affair with Okehampton putting pressue on the Sidmouth line but some strong forward play from Sidmouth gained them another try and a fourteen point lead. Okehampton immediately fought back and had a couple of good chances before Michael Frain scored the Okehampton try. Sidmouth scored again from the re-start and Okehampton gave everything trying to get another try with some very close calls.
