MORE than £8,000 was raised at the recent Okehampton and District Lions Club?s 12th annual Golf Day in aid of Children?s Hospice South West. The competition was held at Okehampton Golf Club on Friday, August 31, and approximately 220 golfers took part. The first prize of four green fees for St Mellion Golf Course plus two buggies and four St Mellion meal vouchers was won by M Cox, C Hurley, P Martin and D Harwood. The special prize of a two nights golfing break for four people ? including dinner, bed and breakfast, at the five star South Lodge Hotel with 36 holes at the Mannings Heath Golf Club ?was donated by ASL Availability Systems Ltd. The prize was won by John Stevens. The Lions thanked everyone who took part and sponsors and supporters of the day, and Okehampton Golf Club for its continued support. Next year?s event will be on Friday, September 5.
