South East division two
Mid Somerset A 2
Okehampton 5
OKEHAMPTON travelled to Wells for this rearranged league game with the hosts one place and only two points behind the visitors.
The match started with the home side in the ascendency and the away side really struggling to put any kind of passing game together at all.
Debutant Luke Liversidge, John Jarvis and Mark Bingham for Oke defended superbly along with Andy Harvey in goal making some good saves.
The hosts were dominating and the first half saw Okehampton create just one goalscoring chance — a short corner which captain Mark Parsons smashed into the bottom corner to give the visitors a lead at half time.
Okehampton's half-time team talk produced the response the skipper was hoping for as the away side dominated proceedings after the break.
Parsons was put clean through and he rounded the keeper and crossed for Brett Lawson who had his shot blocked by a foot on the line. That resulted in a penalty flick being given and the superb James Rogers converted, putting the ball high into the corner.
With the midfielders assuming control Joff Stephens for Oke was able to push forward and play the killer passes — he released Parsons who cut the ball over the floored keeper to make it three.
The hosts grabbed a goal back but it never looked like fazing Okehampton as they went straight back at them and produced the goal of the game.
Simon Bourne made an excellent solo run and passed to Parsons who drew the keeper out and crossed to the unmarked Lawson to scorel.
Man of the match and debutant Liversidge was outstanding as was Bingham on the other side of their defence, Parsons then completed the away teams scoring after an brilliant pass from Stephens again.
Okehampton's keeper Harvey saved a penalty flick before he conceded a second with only minutes to go and the scoring was complete.
