AMELIA Barwood, from Okehampton, has chopped off her locks to support The Little Princess Trust — a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer.

The former Okehampton College student recently had her hair cut and donated it to the trust.

Amelia grew her hair until it was long enough for her to donate 12 inches, as the charity no longer needs shorter lengths.

She said: ‘Ever since I was little I’ve wanted to do this and I’ve finally got the courage! So I finally did it, I cut off of my hair for The Little Princess Trust.’

As well as donating her hair Amelia has been fundraising for this charity.

She and her mother held a tea party in the summer with lots of homemade cakes. To date Amelia has raised £192 for the charity.

Amelia, who has just started studying A-levels at Exeter College, would like to thank Quinn’s Hairdressers for cutting her hair and all of the people who have supported her, sponsored her and donated money.

She said: ‘It would mean a lot if you could donate and support this charity. It doesn’t matter how much you give because it all helps.’
