Devon seconds A

Tavistock seconds v Chudleigh seconds

TAVISTOCK held on in this tense match with the West Devon team coming away with a losing draw.

Chudleigh won the toss and chose to bat on a good wicket. An opening stand of 38 was broken when Sam Willetts dismissed Wilson for 24. Solid batting from Ripley (23), Yedidi (40) and Heather (22)allowed them to reach an above par 187 all out in the final over.

Tavistock's most successful bowler was their fourth change Simon Gliddon taking 4-34 at the end of the Chudleigh innings.

The Tavistock reply got off to a flying start with Goodchild (42) and Webb (50 )putting on an opening stand of 72 in only 11 overs before Goodchild was harshly adjudged lbw.

This led to a middle order collapse with the next six batsmen contributing only 22 runs.

A robust 23 from Downham gave Tavistock brief hope of making the total but when his wicket fell with three overs to go it was up to Joe Trembath and Sam Willetts to bat out the final overs with all ten fielders in close attandance.

Tavistock finished on 162-9, earning a losing draw.
