Devon Senior Cup quarter final Combe Martin 4 Bere Alston Utd 8 BERE progressed to the semi-final in style on a ploughed field. Rob Hawkins latched onto a through ball and scored from the edge of the area. Combe then got back into the game. Good interplay let Will Westlake run through, to round the keeper to score. More good play put Steve Daymond through and his well hit cross left the keeper stranded. In the second half Steve Daymond broke clear and his centre was scored by Rob Hawkins with a diving header. Bere threw on another attacker and went gung-ho with Lee Underwood scoring with his first touch. Combe scored a deflected goal, but from the kick-off Lee Underwood got two bites at the cherry, heading home. Rob Hawkins completed his hat-trick. Using all the remaining substitutes, Bere piled forward. From a free kick Bere went to sleep for Combe to get a headed goal. Bere responded immediately. Darren Smalley?s shot passed an exposed keeper. Combe scored with virtually the last header of the game. This Saturday Duchy Premier away to Boscastle, 2.30 kick-off.
