A NEW polling station for voters in the Tavistock South West ward will be used for the forthcoming West Devon borough, town and parish elections and the UK referendum on the alternative voting system, which is being held on Thursday May 5.

As a trial this year, an area in the Fairway Furniture store in Plymouth Road, Tavistock, is being set aside as a polling station for all voters in the Tavistock South West ward.

The new polling station offers easy access with plenty of space and on-site car parking. West Devon Borough Council, which administers the elections, believes it will be more convenient and central for most of the Tavistock South West voters.

Electors in the Tavistock South ward and the parish of Whitchurch who have previously voted at Whitchurch Village Hall will continue to do so.

The elections will be for West Devon borough, town and parish councillors who will hold their seats for the next four years. A referendum on alternative voting is also being held nationally on the same day.

If you have moved into the area in the last few months or changed address, you may not have had the opportunity to register yet. All you have to do is contact West Devon Borough Council on 01822 813665 for a claim form, complete it, and send it back by no later than Thursday, April 14 and your name will be included on the voting list.

If you would like a postal vote you can do this by, again, contacting the borough council on 01822 813665 for an application form, completing it, and sending it back by the deadline which is 5pm on Thursday, April 14.
