AFTER reading the letter from Shaun Duggan (January 17) I was moved to write regards coloured cardboard waste.

Just before Christmas I put out a large coloured cardboard box which I had carefully folded up and tucked in behind my green box. Later that morning I discovered it had not been collected so rang to ask why it had not been taken. The reply: 'The operators are not allowed to handle cardboard not in the box'!

Unbelievable, considering they all wear protective gloves. Even more surprising as the operators collecting the garden rubbish collect all the brown cardboard even if it is not in the bag.

Is it any wonder we resort to putting more into the black refuse sacks?
