THE Women's Guild and Fellowship met in the churchroom to hear an interesting talk on life in Canada.
The speaker, introduced by Betty Dibben, was Dr Marilyn Livingstone. Born and bred in Canada, Marilyn and her husband, Morgen, have lived in Northlew for several years.
Everyone enjoyed Marilyn's memories and thoughts on Canada — some serious and some hilarious.
Prayers were led by Pat Carter and Marilyn was thanked by Betty for a lovely meeting.
A COFFEE evening was held at 'The Wheelwrights' on Friday by invitation of Tania and Alan Haycocks.
The event, in aid of the parish church, was friendly, convivial affair and, as well as cake and bric-a-brac stalls, offered plentiful supplies of coffee and a selection of cakes and biscuits.
Four Australians who are touring England, were lured into 'Wheelwrights' to join the party, which was great fun.
A profit of £180 was made for church funds. Thanks were expressed to all who attended, and especially to Tania and Alan for their hospitality.
CELEBRANT at the Whit Sunday service of holy communion was the Rev Ruth Hansford. Organist Derek Chivers played music by Lefebre-Wely, Grieg and Liszt.
During communion the choir sand 'Come Holy Ghost, our Hearts Inspire'. Mrs P Durston read a lesson and Mrs P Carter was duty sidesman.
Dr M Livingstone conducted evening prayer, the organist being Mr Chivers.
On Sunday (26th) the morning service will be a family worship, at 11am in the Victory Hall. All welcome.
