THE ARMY has denied that depleted uranium shells have ever been fired on Dartmoor.
The question was put by the Dartmoor Preservation Association to the Dartmoor National Park Authority after concerns about the effects of depleted uranium in the Balkans and the Gulf.
The Army said it had fired depleted uranium shells on ranges in Cumbria and Scotland but not on Dartmoor.
Nor had any of the other armed forces of the UK or of any other country done so, it added.
