OKEHAMPTON were repeatedly penalised at the set piece and breakdown allowing Tavistock to mount a sustained attack on their line. The visitors moved the ball wide quickly and against the run of play loose ball in Tavistock's midfield bounced into the arms of Craig Dennis. who sprinted 80 metres for the first score. From the restart Tavistock charged down a clearance kick and support players secured the try to make it 7-7l.
Defence by both teams stifled promising attacks before a speculative kick ahead into the Tavistock 22 was left to bounce. Matt Johns made for the try line and a good defensive tackle failed to stop the score as the ball was popped up to Olly Kirby to make 14-7 at half-time.
In the second half Okehampton were now playing downhill. Stringing succesive phases together all 15 interlinked before an inside runner scored under the posts. Five minutes later the forwards mauled the ball from a line out with Nathan Abrams coming up with the try. Strong runs from Tom White, Leigh Hughes and Chris Courtier ably supported by the forwards, but notably Gareth Williams and Olly Kirby, tore through the visitors tackles to set the backs loose. Sam Vincent scored the next try followed by a trade mark crash ball try from Matt Johns. Another high kick forward allowed Craig Dennis to steal the ball as it bounced to score another try before Brad Ausden squeezed in at the corner to seal a convincing victory.

TAVISTOCK competed and played well as a team and showed good promise throughout the match. Three tries were scored in each half against Okehampton's one and were a mixture of breakaway tries (Jacob Jones and a hat-trick from Ben Dunlop) from excellent defensive work or the result of hard and productive attacking team rugby allowing Al Spicer and Soul Pengelly to score.
