AT the halfway stage of the Devon County Winter League ? nine rounds shot, nine rounds to go ? most of the Okehampton teams are doing well, in particular the A team which is leading division two, having lost only one of their matches.

The B, C and D teams are fourth, third and fourth in their respective divisions, and only the E team is faring badly, in eighth place in division 8 with only three wins.

Internally, the Club Championship, decided over all 18 rounds of the league, is again turning into a closely-fought affair between Bernard Rendle and Paul Batten.

After the first nine rounds, Paul has scored 877 out of a possible 900 ? an average of 97.44 ? while Bernard?s total is 875 ? 97.33 average.

In round 9, only the E team lost its match ? and that was because the fifth member of the team failed to return a card.
