A NEW website from Dartmoor Accommodation promises to be an invaluable resource for Dartmoor National Park and the surrounding area, offering 200-plus holiday properties and event listings along with suggestions of what to see and do.

Acquired last year by Lisa Jenkins and Julian Tarrant-Boyce from Mary Tavy, DartmoorAccommodation.co.uk was founded 17 years ago by Jill Pendleton of Chagford and was one of the first local websites to include personal reviews of the properties visited.

Features of the new mobile-friendly website, designed by Clare Associates, include a new eye-catching logo and guest blog posts from the likes of Olympic Silver medallist Heather Fell. The site also incorporates shots of stunning Dartmoor scenery captured by local photographers, Mark George and Portia Crossley, giving browsers plenty of inspiration and reasons to visit.

The relaunched site has been designed to aid accommodation providers in promoting their property. Members can now log in and edit their listing and add photos as well as events and offers and links to their social media pages.

Lisa said: 'As the owner of a holiday cottage ourselves we knew how useful the site was in driving bookings. We decided when we took over Dartmoor Accommodation that it would need updating but we also wanted to keep the great content and ethos that Jill had created.

'The new site is cleaner and designed to be very user-friendly so that visitors can easily search for family and pet-friendly places to stay, properties with Wi-Fi as well as special offers and late availability.

'We've also been building on the accommodation reviews and adding even more food reviews.

'It's been a massive undertaking — this year all the money raised from subscriptions has been re-invested into the business – but we're confident that visitors to the area as well as locals looking for ideas on what do will find it a really handy reference tool.'
