Wartime letters inspire Okehampton writer's novelEarlier this month Buckland Monachorum Parish Council announced that BT was to remove the phone box but offered the council an option to adopt the phone box for £1. The parish council then put something on social media to find out what residents thought of taking it on.
The councillors discussed the red box’s future at a council meeting last Tuesday (September 10).
A spokesperson said: ‘The parish council has decided to adopt the phone box and source funding to place a defibrillator into it.
It will need a little TLC from local volunteers to repair the box.’
