THE Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Margaret Beckett, has announced her intention to appoint a new member to the Dartmoor National Park Authority.
Candidates from all backgrounds are being sought for the post which carries shared responsibility for conservation, recreation, planning, access and resources.
Nick Atkinson, chief executive, said: ?Membership of the authority is a rewarding and varied task, performed in the knowledge that Dartmoor remains a very special and sensitive place where there are few easy and straight forward decisions.?
The new appointee will be a national voice on the Authority, and will be expected to bring experience of wider issues, which could include work with young people, social inclusion or environmental projects.
The position is unsalaried, though expenses and travel will be paid.
