A SOUTH West charity is celebrating after it scooped a National Lottery grant to boost a prestigious new development at a West Devon beauty spot. South West Lakes Trust has been awarded £4,868 from the Awards for All programme, which will allow the charity to purchase indoor sports equipment at the new Lakeside centre at Roadford Lake. The new £1.4 million Lakeside project includes a state-of-the-art visitor centre, IT suite and three large function rooms and was completed this summer. James Platts, project manager for Lakeside, said: ?We are thrilled to receive this award. ?We have worked really hard to develop the Lakeside project and we feel it is a real success to add the Award for All grant to its accolade.? Mr Platts said he would also be liaising with staff at Broadwoodwidger Primary School, which is situated close by the lake. It is hoped the school will be developing a close partnership with staff at Roadford and will be able to make good use of the facilities at Lakeside ? plus the new sports equipment which will be provided by the grant. Lakeside, which was developed with backing from the South West Regional Development Agency, the Heritage Lottery Fund, local authorities and South West Forest, among others, was officially opened by the Earl and Countess of Wessex on Tuesday.
