NORTH Tawton pre-school has found a new home. The group was given notice earlier this year to vacate its current base in the town?s youth and community centre by the end of July. It had been based there for the last ten years, and the need to move raised serious concerns about the future of the group. But the pre-school has now been offered a new base in the old hall at North Tawton Primary School where it will re-open on Monday September 10. Parents, children and staff of both the pre-school and the primary school are excited about the move and enthusiastic that it will benefit the children on North Tawton. Manager of the pre-school Bridget Kamel said: ?We are looking forward to redecorating the hall and making it a really stimulating and high quality setting for the children and a great place to work. ?We are particularly looking forward to using the playground and field as our current premises has no outdoor play facilities. The school have been fantastic and we look forward to working closely with them.? The committee and staff of the pre-school have been working hard to organise fundraising events, including a recent teddy bear?s picnic and balloon race. The pre-school has also been fortunate to receive help and donations from a number of local individuals and businesses to help set them up in their new home, including a bouncy castle which was donated by Blogg?s Garage. They are still hoping to receive further donations, as the group?s five-year-plan is to submit funding and grant applications eventually to install their own purpose-built pre-school within the school grounds. North Tawton pre-school was highly praised in the most recent Ofsted reports for the quality of its education and the ?bright welcoming environment? it provides. In its new home, the pre-school hopes to build on that success ? and to work closely with the primary?s ?out of school? club to provide integrated ?wrap-around care? for the children of North Tawton.
