WITH reference to the article in last week's East Cornwall Times concerning the new health centre for the Callington Area.

This is a much needed facility that is long overdue and with the amount of new housing in the area, we will soon be desperate for a new health centre.

I am surprised that not enough people are aware of the proposed health centre. The developers have been working with the Callington and Gunnislake surgeries and they are in agreement on the fact that it is needed.

This is really a step forward for doctors and patients — to be sited in Southern Road with good road access from any direction, to have space for consultants to visit as other towns do and physio/accident and emergency doctors available, not to have to travel to Derriford for appointments would be luxury, space to park for patients and ambulances and also buses stopping for patients from outlying areas and wide pavements for scooters.

The outline plans were on show last Thursday at Callington Town Hall but they need to be made available for everyone to see. The obvious places would be both Callington and Gunnislake surgeries.

I am sure smaller copies could be seen and perhaps a further plan when approved in the local newspaper.
