CALLINGTON Town Football Club have announced that Mark Skerton and Chris Howles will take control of the Carlsberg South Western League team for the forthcoming season. Mark and Chris came highly recommended to the club and have fully signed up to Callington?s desire to concentrate on the local talent that is around the area. They will be working closely with the new trainer Mark Vernon and with other members of the club to start building a side that can compete in this competitive league. Garfield Ewing and Tim May will be running the East Cornwall Premier League side. Garfield and Tim started with a team in this league and were competing well before the troubles in January when they took the courageous step of taking the caretaker role with the first team. The club are sure that given an opportunity to compete for a full season, they can create a similar standard. With that appointment, the club had to say farewell to the incumbent managers Stewart Cawte and Paul Sanders who stepped up from the thirds and did a good job for the club. They are naturally disappointed that they were unsuccessful with their application. The club were also disappointed that they had ruled themselves out of taking charge of the important third team role but do wish them well in the future. The management of the third team will be settled shortly as the club are interviewing a short list of candidates. Training will start for the club on June 21 at 7pm and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from there on.
