THE Times is delighted to announce that it has found itself a new home in Okehampton. As of today (Thursday), the Times will once again have a presence in the town, opening an office in the Ockment Centre. Okehampton reporter Tom French will be based in the office, which is situated close to the centre's reception area. Members of the public will be more than welcome to drop in and see Tom during office hours to chat about stories and he will also do his best to answer any general questions regarding the paper. While any enquiries regarding stories will be dealt with by Tom directly, there is also a drop box on reception for advertisements, birthday and death announcements and letters to the editor. Copies of the Times will be available to buy from the centre's reception desk. Since the closure, Tom has been based at the paper's Tavistock office. He is delighted with the news that the Times has found itself a new home. 'It has been a tough few weeks for us as a firm,' Tom said. 'The enforced office closure has thrown us for a loop, but since then we have been working hard to find ourselves a new home. 'We would like to express our thanks to Godfrey, Short and Squire for looking after our drop box in the weeks since our East Street office closed. The drop box has helped to keep our operation running smoothly. 'Being based at the Ockment Centre made a great deal of sense to us. 'The centre is at the heart of the community, buzzing continuously with activity. We hope that being here will allow us to forge even stronger links with the groups based in the building and the centre itself. Our new office is spacious and light and should serve our needs very well indeed. 'The future of the Times is looking bright. As the "man on the ground", I can't wait to be back working in Okehampton full time and getting out and about in the community.'
