A NEW free training course in East Cornwall has been devised for people living with chronic pain. Arthritis Care, a registered charity, has put together the course ?Challenging Pain? for people with pain conditions which have lasted longer than three months, giving them an understanding of what pain is and how to challenge it. These workshops are delivered over two weeks in two-hour sessions by trained Arthritis Care staff and volunteers who have experience of chronic pain themselves. It combines new interactive training materials and has been developed in partnership with the Eric Angel Pain Management Unit at Derriford Hospital and ?Pain Support?. Participants will be introduced to a variety of pain management skills to help them manage their lives more effectively. As many as one in seven people in the UK live daily with chronic pain which can have a major impact upon the person themselves, their families and carers. The next workshops will be held at the Methodist Church in Albaston on Wednesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 12. For more information contact Janet on 01752 480364.
