THANKS once again to Okehampton Times for helping us

to keep informed about plans for the future with regard to

our beautiful county of Devon.

I attended the meeting arranged by Devon Heartlands

Community Forum concerning the proposal to set up a

single unitary authority together with 28 community

boards

Apparently, we are all required to give our views during

this consultation period. We have eight weeks to arrive at

a conclusion.

The trouble is, those responsible for this proposal are

unable to give us a clear plan. We have to take a 'leap of

faith' as one of the speakers put it. One comment

suggested that it was like buying a yellow car which gave

customer satisfaction with respect to the colour but

unfortunately the car had no engine!
