NORTH Tawton Community Primary School hosted the annual football and netball tournament, using their two football pitches and netball courts.
Eight 11 local schools took part in this exciting event, with the afternoon sun making it even more enjoyable!
Nic D'Agorne, the headteacher at North Tawton School, said: The teams played in the spirit of friendly competition, with the off-pitch/court social side of the tournament being almost as important as the games themselves.
'The children rose to the challenge of the Fair Play Awards and the whole atmosphere was positive and enjoyed by all who attended.'
Nick D'Agorne, added: 'I was extremely pleased with the standard of refereeing/umpiring of the games and am really grateful to Okehampton College for releasing their students. I would also like to thank the students themselves for their support for the tournament and their professionalism.'
The tournament was designed to ensure even competition wherever possible and the smaller schools were allowed to bring all their Year 6 children, whereas the larger schools (100+) were limited to four out of the squad of eight (netball) or nine (football). This resulted in some very even scores in both activities and enhanced the sense of fair play.
Hatherleigh Primary School were unanimously voted as award winners for the 'Fair Play awards' for both football and netball teams.
Results for football: 1, Chagford; 2, Okehampton; 3, North Tawton; 4= South Tawton and Bridestowe; 6, Hatherleigh; 7, Exbourne.
Results for the netball: 1, North Tawton; 2, South Tawton; 3, Exbourne; 4, Northlew; 5, Bridestowe; 6= Hatherleigh and Chagford; 8, Okehampton.
