?TRADITIONS, myths and legends? is the theme for a flower festival being held to raise vital funds for St Mary?s Church in Morchard Bishop next month. Around 20 beautiful flower arrangements will be on display in the church, which has stood on its Saxon site of worship since the 15th century. Running costs for such an ancient church are an ongoing problem and currently run to some £18,000 a year. In addition, the church roof needs attention. The flower festival will be held on June 17 to 19, from 10am to 7pm on the 17 and from 11am to 6pm on June 18 and 19. There will also be a church service at 6.30pm on the Sunday. In addition to the flower displays, there will be a raffle, a plant stall and a secondhand book stall. Any contributions to these attractions are welcome. Coffee, ploughmans? lunches and cream teas will be available in the church rooms. Admission and car parking is free.
