THERE was music in the air in Tavistock on Saturday afternoon at a concert which raised £120 for a cancer charity.

The event is held at the home of local piano teacher Jill Haire, who every year holds a concert at her home in aid of CLIC Sargent, which supports children with cancer and their families.

She said: 'My pupils enjoy practicing for this event and we invite family and friends along to see their children perform.

Everyone contributes towards a raffle and buffet, my husband organises a quiz and all the proceeds go to CLIC Sargent.

'Its a very informal event, creating a relaxing atmosphere to help children feel confident to perform in front of other people.

'Parents can also see the progress made by the children. Everyone likes to meet to have a chance to catch up with each other and hear a range of different styles of music.'
