A NIGHT of music and fun has been organised at Okehampton Golf Club to remember a local musician. 'The Moon Dance' will be a musical extravaganza featuring a raft of local musicians to celebrate the life of musician Nigel Hughes. Nigel played electric bass guitar, acoustic and electric acoustic guitar, soprano alto and tenor saxophone, and the double bass. He died in February, losing his battle with prostate cancer. All the musicians involved have given their time free of charge, and the funds raised by the event will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK. The acts playing include soulful four piece The Strange and the Beautiful, the duo Stage2, Three Parts Gone, The Odd Couple, and nine piece funk and soul band The Blu Funk Allstars. The event takes place at the club tomorrow (Friday) from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. There is free entry and a licensed bar, with donations welcome.
