THE Easter weekend saw the 32nd year of twinning between Horrabridge Football Twinning Club and the Football Twinning Club of Tilly sur Seulles in Normandy. The French guests arrived late Friday night after a calm crossing from Roscoff to Plymouth and were welcomed by the host families who, after all these years, have now become firm friends. Saturday was spent exploring various local interests including the new shopping complex in Plymouth's Drake Circus and the Eden Project in Cornwall. On Saturday evening there was a 'soirée' at the Westward Inn at LeighMill, Ivybridge, with a buffet and disco until the early hours. On Sunday after a slow morning recovery everyone met up at Fillace Park Horrabridge in the afternoon for a French boules tournament. Suffice to say being French the visitors were far superior at boules although the English flag did flutter briefly in one or two of the matches but the final was an all French affair leaving Horrabridge committee members Mike Halfyard and Eric Hemsill vowing the English will be practising — ready to restore pride on next years visit to Tilly. After an evening with the host families the French departed on the night ferry back to Roscoff.
