DAD'S Army actor Bill Pertwee will be making a special appearance at a charity roadshow in Tavistock Town Hall on November 2.

Devon In Sight, which helps people with visual impairment, is holding the event to provide information and advice and give residents an opportunity to try out specialist equipment to enable blind or partially sighted people to lead more independent lives.

The day will be hosted by friendly staff and volunteers.

Bill Pertwee, who played Captain Mainwaring's arch enemy Chief Warden Hodges in the long running BBC comedy, is a vice-patron of the charity.
