Callington Town 2

Launceston 1

CALLINGTON increased the clear water between them and the relegation dogfight with another workmanlike performance against a tough side who are in trouble near the foot of the table.

The home side took a tenth minute lead. Chris Truscott crossed from the right to the advancing Lee Blatchford and the teenager made no mistake with a crisp shot past Dan Stevenson in the Launceston goal for his first goal for the club.

The visitors came back at Town and a period of sustained pressure, equalised. Nineteen minutes had gone when a left wing move saw the ball beat two Callington defenders before Turner fired it high into the net.

But Callington came back at the visitors and seven minutes later regained the lead with another Blatchford goal. This time it was Lee?s older brother Kevin who was the goal hero as his run was crudely ended by a Launceston tackle and the striker fired home the 25-yard free kick.

The home side continued to dominate after the break and Ollie Cradick should have done better with a shot on 48 minutes that crept wide of the keeper?s right hand post after Lee Blatchford headed down into his path.

But for all the possession they enjoyed, Callington could not break down the Launceston defence, but theirs also held on well to give Callington the points.
